Public relations portfolio

Over the years, we’ve successfully completed all kinds of projects for companies in all kinds of industries - here’s just a few of them.

Bread and butter stuff

With nearly 1,000 people working for the business, effective internal communications are vital for leading North West based bread manufacturer Roberts Bakery. For almost a decade, Avencia has managed the copywriting and production of Roberts’ regular staff newsletter Newsround. Bringing a lively mix of staff news and business updates, the newsletter is the perfect way to educate and motivate such a large team of staff.

Avencia has also secured valuable trade and local press coverage and prime time radio and TV presence for newsworthy stories, including the opening of a new £6 million bread plant by HRH The Duke of Gloucester and the world’s biggest sandwich - made, of course, with Roberts bread!

Client verdict:
“Liz has brought dedication and enthusiasm to every project she has handled for us. Her high standards of professionalism and attention to detail always stand out, but she is also enjoyable to work with. We’d recommend Avencia every time.”

Top glass solution

A moderate PR budget has been well harnessed to maintain North Western Lead Co.’s position as the market leader in decorative overlay products for glass. A sustained campaign encompassing business and product editorials has kept the company’s name firmly in the press and generated valuable sales leads for the business.

Avencia has also regularly organised studio photography to capture the qualities of many of the company’s products.

Client verdict:
"I have found working with Liz to be very easy in terms of communicating to her what we want to say, and valuable in the way she publicises our information. She has made our marketing strategy so much more effective."

Bumping off would be burglars

The launch of the Excalibur RASP bump and snap resistant cylinder system prompted leading hardware manufacturer Kenrick to develop a hard hitting trade campaign with Avencia. The integrated campaign aimed to educate people about the rising number of burglaries using “lock bumping” - a quick and easy method of gaining entry into a property, which leaves no sign of attack.

Activity included a broad mix of in-depth technical articles, step by step installation guides, product press releases, customer case studies, trade advertising, product literature, website development, a DVD and exhibition support.

The editorial value was at least double the equivalent cost of advertising. Offering unquestionable value for money, it still remains the favoured method of promotion for the company and its products.

Client verdict:
In the four years that we have been working with Liz we have had continual success with our PR. Liz’s standing with the industry’s media and ability to generate press releases which capture the essence of the feature and the readers interest have ensured that we are regularly featured in the trade press. We have been so impressed with Liz’s contribution that we have successfully utilised her services in other of our group companies.

Opening doors with customers

The market leading composite door from Hurst has generated unprecedented interest from the trade press. Memorable advertising ties in with the public relations effort in a campaign that has delivered results on every front.

Editor briefings, full page articles, press releases, regular advice columns and opinion pieces have all provided consistent presence month after month in key trade magazines and on-line media.

Client verdict:
“We have worked with Avencia PR for over five years and throughout this period have developed a seamless working relationship. Liz has the exceptional ability of being able to coax information from us relating to new product launches, company developments and more topical industry related subjects and then transform this into newsworthy press releases and feature articles. Through her long standing relationships with the industry’s media, we are always guaranteed excellent media coverage which never fails to generate the required level of interest and customer enquiries.”

A steamy passion

When Snowdon Mountain Railway wanted to mark the opening of their world famous steam railway for the season, they turned to Avencia for assistance. Avencia enlisted the help of the late, great Fred Dibnah, MBE, to travel to the 3560 foot summit aboard the steam train and officially open the railway. Although seriously ill at the time, steam enthusiast Fred was more than happy to pose for the regional and broadcast press who had turned out in their masses to cover the event. He even stayed long after the opening to meet fans and feed his passion for steam.

For a small PR budget, the event generated an enormous amount of local press, TV and radio coverage for the Railway. Sadly, Fred passed away and was unable to open the Railway again. Since then, Avencia has worked with Welsh opera singer Bryn Terfel to launch the season and has hosted a number of events throughout the season to promote the Railway. PR even promoted the Railway’s unusual starring role in a Bollywood movie!

A hot issue

Avencia successfully orchestrated a major media launch for roofing manufacturer Liquid Plastics at the prestigious Forbes House in London.

Following an investment of more than £1 million, the company launched its groundbreaking “cold fusion” bonded built up roofing system - a zero heat, zero flame application with the highest fire rating. Exceeding the most stringent industry standards for roofing systems, it eliminates the problems - such as roof fires, increased insurance premiums and operator health and safety - that are commonly associated with using hot bitumen, naked flame or hot air/hot gas guns on roofs.

Key figures from the construction industry attended the event and Avencia secured prime editorial coverage in virtually every single respected building and roofing magazine, which far exceeded the investment in the launch.

Client verdict:
“I have known and worked with Liz professionally for over a decade now. It is a testament to her public relations skills that I relied on her expertise in many different market sectors. Experienced, competent and enthusiastic, she has the ability to quickly build relationships with key stakeholder groups, critical in any meaningful PR campaign. She works hard to deliver results every time.”
